South Korea's textile exports in July dropped 17.5 per cent from a year ago to US$1.39 billion - the lowest point for 11 years. The last time figures were as low was in July 1990 when $1.37 billion was shipped abroad.

The export amount fell 10.2 per cent in July from a year earlier to 280,000 tons, and the average unit price fell 8.2 per cent to $5.06 per kg.

Exports of fibre products also fell 24.8 per cent, yarns 21.9 per cent, fabrics 20.5 per cent and textile products 11.5 per cent, according to the Korea Federation of Textile Industries.
