Political turmoil and rising production and raw material costs are being blamed for a 9.3% drop in Pakistan's textile exports in October.

Exports fell to $836.86m in October, compared with $922.42m in September. Compared with October last year, however, exports were up 2.7%.

In the first four months of the current fiscal year textile exports rose 1.1% to $3.65bn compared with $3.61bn in the same period last year.

Ready-made garment exports slipped 3.5% year-on-year in October, and fell by 3% in the July-October period.
