Many textile plants in Pakistan have closed their production in the northern part of the country due to the law & order problems, high transportation costs, energy crisis and high production cost in the country.

Around 10,000 people have lost their jobs due to the closure of Dewan Salman Fibers, Khyber Spinning Mills, Latif Shakir Textile Mills, Tariq Textile Mills, Sahibzada Silk Mills during the past year.

Former central chairman of Pakistan Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), Ijaz Khokhar, told just-style that many textile plants in the northern part of the country have become unviable due to very high transportation cost from mills to the seaport and other logistics and geographical disadvantages.
