China's textile industry has received an extra boost with the introduction of dotcom information company Textile Network Co Ltd, reported the China Daily.

The company is aiming to build an influential website for the textile industry and hopes to establish links with key ministries, national textile enterprises and textile associations.

The announcement has come as China's textile industry is experiencing signs of strong growth. Statistics indicate that between January and October, profits in the textile industry jumped by 170 per cent from the same period last year to 22.8bn yuan (US$2.75bn).

Textile Network Co Ltd has been set up as one of the pilot groups that are being encouraged by the Ministry of Information Industry to introduce information technology into the textile industry. Director of the State Textile Industry Bureau, Du Yuzhou said: " The company will serve to propel the use of Internet-based information technologies in China's textile industry and aid the restructuring of the sector".

Statistics from the General Administration of Customs show that the country exported $43.4bn worth of textile products during the first 10 months of this year, up 26.1 per cent from the corresponding period last year.
