Footwear and accessories retailer The Walking Company Holdings Inc has widened its second quarter loss as sales edged up just 0.3%.

The Santa Barbara, California based company, which operates 201 The Walking Company stores and 94 Big Dogs stores, said its net loss for the quarter was $2.2m, or $0.23 a share, compared with a loss of $188,000, or $0.a year earlier.

For the three months to 30 June, net sales increased to $56.02m from $55.85m.

Same-store sales fell 1.2%, with a 3.2% drop at TWC chain and a 4.0% increase for Big Dogs.
