Thermore is converting its entire Ecodown product line to fully recycled fibre content

Thermal insulation specialist Thermore has converted its entire Ecodown product line to fully recycled fibre content, derived exclusively from PET water bottles.

The Milan-based synthetic insulation supplier says the move means its new Ecodown is the only synthetic product in  the market to be made from 100%, post-consumer  plastic bottles.

Its Ecodown thermal insulation offers a "warm, soft, durable and sustainable alternative to down", it says, and outerwear insulated with the product can save up to 10 bottles per garment from going to landfill.

The insulation is available in a wide variety of weights and thickness options to match the requirements of most temperature ranges. The new Ecodown does not require special quilting restrictions or fabrics and Thermore says it can be both washed or dry cleaned with "confidence".

Thermore recently cooperated with functional fabric specialist Sympatex Technologies on a waterproof cotton wool liner made of 100% recycled polyester. It is suitable for dry-cleaning and can be combined with a range of different outer materials depending on customer needs.
