UK shirt maker TM Lewin has appointed former N Brown CEO, Alan White, as chairman with immediate effect.

White joins Lewin with over 30 years of retail, direct marketing and e-commerce experience. Most recently he was CEO of internet and catalogue retailer N Brown, serving as finance director from 1985 to 1999. before moving to Littlewoods as finance chief until 2002.

“We are delighted to welcome Alan to the company,” said Geoff Quinn, CEO of TM Lewin. “His wide ranging retail, e-commerce and operational expertise means that he is ideally positioned to help drive forward the company’s next phase of growth and in particular our multi-channel and online expansion plans.”

Between 1985 and 2013, N Brown’s sales grew from GBP40m (US$61.2m) to over GBP800m with online contributing over 50%.

Last month, TM Lewin was subject to a management buyout, acquiring Caird Capital's 20% stake in the business.
