Upscale shoe and leather goods group Tod's has announced plans to expand a new retail project that will see its three leather labels, Acqua di Parma scent range and Brooks Brothers clothes sold together in stores.

Chief executive Diego Della Valle said a trial had been extremely successful and he now planned to roll out up to 100 such stores around the world over the next few years.

Speaking ahead of a presentation in Italy of Tod's spring/summer 2003 collection of soft leather bags and sandals, Della Valle said the new retail initiative "makes sense" as it keeps costs low.

He added: "We've done the experimental stage and now there'll be new stores in cities like Cologne, Brescia, maybe Memphis, with possibly about 100 opening in the next few years.

"But in terms of design and production it's each brand for itself. They won't be diluted."
