German lingerie maker Triumph International has opened a new 2.7 billion forints ($9.64 million) manufacturing and logistics facility in Dunaujvaros, south of Budapest, which will create 370 new jobs.

The factory will be operated by Body Fashion Kft, a fully-owned subsidiary of Triumph, and will produce women's underwear, including bras, bodysuits, briefs and slips.

The new plant, which has facilities to complete the entire production cycle from design through to the end-product, will cater for both the eastern and western European markets and will replace some of the processes carried out at Triumph's factory in Heubach, Germany.

In addition to manufacturing, the new centre will also coordinate the activities of the 13 Hungarian partner companies with which Triumph has outsourcing agreements.

As a company, Triumph first stepped into the Hungarian market in 1966, and in 1989 opened its Triumph International (Budapest) Kft office. Through its intermediaries, Triumph employs 2900 seamstresses in Hungary, and last year revenues totalled 2.9 billion forints. Worldwide, Triumph International employs 36,000 people and recorded revenues of DEM 3.2 billion in 2000.
