Pakistan’s textile and clothing exports surged 20 per cent in the past two months to $1.15 billion from $953.7 million in 2001, new figures released on Wednesday revealed.

Official data showed exports of cotton cloth jumped 43 per cent year-on-year in to $222m in July and August, garment exports soared 21 per cent to $188.3m and knitwear exports climbed 12 per cent to $193m.

Exports of cotton yarn were flat at $160m while art silk and synthetic textiles exports rose to $78m.
