Performance footwear and apparel brand Under Armour has opened a new 1m square foot distribution and warehouse facility in Tennessee as part of a $100m investment to grow its US-based operations.

The new Nashville Distribution House is Under Armour's third distribution facility in the US, and will see the company create 1,500 new jobs in the area over the next five years. It joins the original warehouse in the Baltimore, Maryland and another located in Rialto, California.

The facility features an onsite Under Armour Fitness Center for employees, state-of-the-art equipment including more than 12 miles of conveyor systems, automated receiving technology, voice-directed-picking software and advanced sortation methods.

Jim Hardy, EVP of global operations at Under Armour, said the new facility "provides us with a great opportunity to grow our US-based team and better service our rapidly expanding customer base."

In September, Under Armour said it expects to book revenues of US$7.5bn in 2018 – nearly double what it is forecasting for the current fiscal year.
