Two former managers of the Bata-Hellocourt shoe factory, which has been in receivership since mid-July, are the only candidates to have shown any interest in taking over the company. The deadline for the submission of bids has been set for September 17.

Unions have told Bata-Hellocourt's 875 employees to stand by for further action.

According to Nadine Martzloff, a representative of CFDT, the union wants to halt activity at the site. She claims the factory has not received any orders from Bata France Distribution (BFD), the unit which manages the commercial network, since early this summer - and that its workload will run out by the end of September.
