Uniqlo has blamed a drop in September same-store sales in Japan on hot weather, which stifled sales of its autumn winter lines.

September same-store sales fell 10.7% against the same month last year, while sales in its own stores fell 5.4%. Total sales, including online sales, were down 5%.

Uniqlo recently announced ambitious expansion plans to help it become the world's leading manufacturer and retailer by 2020 - including adding new factories to ramp up production to 5bn items a year.
