Japanese retailer Uniqlo saw its same-store sales fall 12.4% for the month of April, hit by poor weather in the country.

Total sales including online sales decreased by 3.5%, owner Fast Retailing announced today (6 May).

April sales fell below previous year levels due to slower sales of spring and summer items amidst low temperatures, a statement added.

During the month Uniqlo opened 22 new stores and closed nine.
