Uzbekistan and Japan have met to discuss cooperating in the field of textiles, with research and investment a focus.

Heads of Uztuqimachiliksanoat – the Uzbekistan Textile Industry Association – met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Nobuaki Ito.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged information on the current state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the textile industry, the investment activities of Japanese companies, as well as cooperation in science and research for textile manufacturing.

In order to increase the export of finished textile products to the market of Japan, Uzbekistan was offered assistance in attracting Japanese partners to the Republic, and the organisation of certification for the export of Uzbekistan textile products to Japan.

In 2017, the export of textile products to the Japanese market amounted to around US$388,000.

According to the Uzbekistan Textile Industry Association, particular attention was paid during the meeting to the development of cooperation between Uzbek and Japanese textile companies and trade networks.

At present, domestic textile enterprises use equipment from leading Japanese companies such as Toyota, Murata, Howa, Oshima, Yamato, Juki, Brothers, Kansai, Tsudakoma.
