Leading apparel maker VF Corporation has acquired Belgian bag and accessory maker Kipling Belgium NV for an undisclosed price.

Under the deal, Antwerp-based Kipling will become part of North Carolina-based VF's rapidly growing Outdoor coalition and will be overseen by European Packs managing director Jim Thomsen.

"Clearly, VF's growth momentum is building," VF CEO Mackey McDonald said of the purchase.

"Kipling is solidly profitable and has the potential for double-digit sales growth in the years ahead, as we leverage the brand's very strong position into additional categories and markets.

In addition to its own bags, backpacks and stationery products, Kipling produces eyewear, footwear, jewellery, watches and home products under licence to various companies.
