Apparel maker VF Corporation plans to build a new distribution facility in Hackleburg, Alabama on to replace the one destroyed by a tornado in April.

The new facility will be larger, more modern and have the potential to handle additional shipping capacity, the company said, adding another 50 jobs to take the workforce to 200.

Construction will begin in the second quarter of 2012, with completion slated for mid-year 2013.

"We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Hackleburg and look forward to a bright future," said Eric Wiseman, chairman and CEO of VF, whose brands include Wrangler, The North Face, Lee, and Vans.

While building work is underway, VF is providing work for former workers at the destroyed facility at its other hubs in the area.
