Hanoi University of Textile Industry (HTU) is to drive a training programme for the next generation of textile industry workers as Vietnam gears up for the fourth industrial revolution.

Dr Hoang Xuan Hiep, president of HTU, said that the Fourth Industrial Revolution is in the beginning stage of development.

“This is a strategic and pivotal period for developing countries to keep up with world trends, especially in the textile and garment industry. In fact, machines and technology can be bought, but people, knowledge, skills, and perception are completely impossible. If humans cannot meet it, no matter how modern machinery or technology is, it will still not work. It can be said that the employee is always at the centre of all development.”

The school has developed a training programmee to meet standard output based on the results of a survey of the labour market demand of the textile and garment industry, actual job positions available and the forecast for the development of Industry 4.0.

The programme places special emphasis on forging thinking skills, technical skills and problem solving for students. In addition, the school has focused on building specialised textbooks on textile production management, quality management, order management, repair technology and technology textbooks, textile engineering.

The University has also signed comprehensive cooperation agreements with nearly 50 textile enterprises. These businesses have arranged for students to practice in accordance with the training objectives, sent experts to participate in teaching, develop programs, curricula, sponsorship scholarships and arrange jobs for graduates.
