The world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart Stores Inc, on Thursday reported a forecast 2.6 per cent climb in November same-store sales and revealed it enjoyed record single day sales of $1.43 billion last Friday.

The Arkansas-based retail giant said net sales for the four weeks to November 29 soared 10 per cent to $21bn from just over $19bn in the year-ago period.

The firm said same-store sales at its Wal-Mart division rose 2.8 per cent with total sales up 11 per cent to $13.7bn. Same-store sales at its Sam's Club unit rose 1.3 per cent and unit sales increased seven per cent to $2.65bn with international sales up 14 per cent to $3.5bn.
