Wal-Mart is to invest $12m in the construction of a 33,300 sq m store and commercial centre. Jorge Resendiz and Sergio Cicero, Wal-Mart's legal and real estate directors, said that the new store would be built in the state of Zacatecas. It is planned to open in November and is expected to create 1,200 new jobs.

The company's representatives announced investments worth US$31m in Mexico as a whole this year, with the retailer intending to invest a total of US$1.3bn in 62 stores all over the world, Mexican daily El Economista reported.
