The world's largest retailer, Wal-Mart Inc, was on Wednesday rumoured to be considering entering the Polish market through the acquisition of retailer Rema 1000.

The Warsaw Business Journal said Rema is in talks with an American investor also interested in buying the Slovakian subsidiary of the Norwegian-controlled retailer.

It added one of the US retail giant's strategic partners, Gazeley Properties, is currently holding talks over the possible purchase of land in Sochaczew, 50kms from the capital.
