The Estonian and Dutch joint venture Walking, the footwear chain, opened its largest store in the Baltic States last week. The store, located in Lithuania's second largest town Kaunas, occupies 1,500 sq ms.

Ingrida Dauksiene, finance manager, said similar stores would be opened across Lithuania: "We will attract customers by low prices and a wide choice. I think our goods will outstrip the poor quality goods sold in open markets."

Footwear will be exported to Kaunas from all over the world. Walking owns 18 stores in Estonia and four in Latvia.
