Troubled apparel maker Warnaco Group Inc should find out on Friday if it can sell the rights to carry out store-closing sales at its 25 Warnaco, Warner's and Olga outlet stores to a joint venture.

The New York-based company wants to sell the rights to a JV of SB Capital Group LLC and Tiger Capital Group LLC for $13 million - roughly the cost of the merchandise.

Warnaco, which was recently said to be looking at selling its core assets including its Calvin Klein jeans and underwear businesses, said the offer from the JV was the highest of four bids.

If a bankruptcy court judge approves the move, then the stores will begin closing early next month.

Also on Thursday, creditors of Warnaco Group said they would contest claims by former chairman Linda Wachner that Warnaco owes her around $25 million.

Wachner left the company in November - five months after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Some investors allege her management decisions and large salary contributed to its woes.
