Clothing manufacturer The Warnaco Group has begun its search for a new president and will submit its reorganisation plan by the end of this month, The New York Post reported on Tuesday.

The paper said the apparel firm has hired Melanie Kusin, managing partner at executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, to find a new president with the role expected to eventually include the title of CEO.

Warnaco's current CEO is Antonio Alvarez, who also runs the turnaround firm, Alvarez & Marsal. He replaced Linda Wachner who left when the firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year with debts of $2.4 billion.

The New York Post said Warnaco declined to comment on the search for a new president while Kusin did not reply to its calls.
