Canadian-based clothing retailer Mark's Work Wearhouse chain is hoping to create a sales storm - by using weather forecasts to help it predict consumer demand.

The apparel chain is working with weather forecasting specialists Planalytics to combine its historical inventory movement data with weather forecasts in an attempt to anticipate customer demand.

Bosses hope the partnership will allow them to predict shopping trends more accurately, especially when it comes to lines influenced heavily by weather conditions.

Many clothing retailers in the UK and continental Europe are currently seeing their winter collections suffer due to warmer than expected autumnal temperatures.
