Men's shoe producer and distributor Weyco Group Inc on Monday posted a one per cent climb in second quarter net income to $1.6 million on the back of a three per cent rise in net sales to $32.5m.

The Milwaukee-based company said the sales boost was from an increase in retail net sales, offset by a slight decrease in wholesale net sales.

It added for the first half, net sales were up two per cent to $68.2m and net income was up one per cent at $3.9m.

In May, Weyco completed its acquisition of Florsheim Group Inc's domestic wholesale business, related assets and 23 stores for $47.8m, including $1.5m of acquisition costs and earlier this month, completed acquisition of the assets and certain liabilities of Florsheim Europe for $400,000.
