Family Dollar Stores said Monday (2 April) that it had appointed Wook Lee to the new post of senior vice president of global sourcing, a new post.

Lee, who most recently was president of A&O Consulting, a sourcing advisory firm, earlier spent nine years with Target Corp, where his last post was global vice president of production service.

At Family Dollar, he reports to Robert George, executive vice president of merchandising.

Howard Levine, chairman and chief executive officer of Matthews, North Carolina-based Family Dollar, said: "Today, approximately 40% of our merchandise is manufactured globally. Enhancing our global sourcing capabilities will enable us to improve merchandise quality and lower our production and supply chain costs.

"With significant experience in global sourcing, production and quality assurance efforts, Wook is a talented addition to our leadership team."
