CMAI, a consultant for market analysis and forecasts in the petrochemical industry, is to team up with Manchester, UK-based textile and textile application consulting company David Rigby Associates (DRA), to offer a fuels to fashion fibre consulting service.

An important driver of the strategic alliance is the fact that DRA recently produced a model for forecasting world end-use consumption of textile fibres for both consumer and technical end-uses, by country and by fibre type.

Initially, DRA will provide CMAI with fibre market forecasts from this model, along with commentaries on textile market trends, for inclusion in its new multi-client service - the Global Fibers and Feedstock Report - which will be launched in September 2001. CMAI will provide DRA with an understanding of upstream fibre and fibre feedstock markets and the associated impact on the derivative industries.

CMAI and DRA are actively planning other joint activities, including consulting services and special multi-client studies which will exploit their collective strengths and experience in the fibre supply chain.
