Allan Zwerner has resigned from his post as Perry Ellis International's president of licensing, and will vacate the role on 30 June 2002. He will, however, continue to serve as a director on the company's board and provide consulting services.

In a statement, Perry Ellis said it is launching a national search to find Zwerner's successor.

Zwerner cited a desire to reorient the focus of his career as the reason for his resignation, as he plans to spend more time with his family and explore teaching opportunities at the university level.

Zwerner, a well-respected industry executive, joined the men's designer and swimwear fashion leader in 1999 shortly after the acquisitions of the Perry Ellis, John Henry and Manhattan brands.
