French hypermarket retailer Carrefour has invested in PLM to help unify the design and product development processes for its Tex private label clothing and accessories range.

The world's second-largest retail chain has more than 12,500 stores in over 35 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, selling a range of products from apparel to fresh produce.

With such a large network of retail partners and suppliers, Carrefour turned to Gerber Technology's YuniquePLM platform to provide a single version of the truth for its Tex brand by understanding where products are from concept to consumer in the supply chain.

Organising product information in a common platform was one of the first steps in streamlining and optimising the economies of scale enjoyed by the retail giant's impressive supply chain. The software will communicate product specifications, technical drawings, tech packs and issue sample requests.

"Carrefour's technical designers will be able to create, access and modify styles, colour palettes, images and more, directly in their design program of choice, including Adobe Illustrator," explains Bill Brewster, vice president and general manager of Enterprise SW Solutions for Gerber Technology.
