Apparel retailer JL International is to implement Lectra’s product lifecycle management (PLM) offering to help reduce product development time and improve quality of its Styleco branded garments.

Lectra Fashion PLM will enable JL International to improve collaboration between the product and collection life cycles.

With more than 120 stores throughout France selling men’s, women’s and children’s wear, Styleco recorded sales of EUR110m (US$147m) in 2006 and is in the midst of an expansion programme.

Most of its supplies come from South Asia with a growing proportion from China.

“A team of 25, including 11 designers, is currently working on the creation of 1,500 seasonal styles across several brands,” explains Philippe Graffin, associate director of operations at JL International.

JL International will initially implement the Product Development application – the core of Lectra Fashion PLM – to help organise, manage, and share all the information related to the development of its products and collections.

This should give the company control of the sourcing processes, prototype management and costing – as well as quality assurance, and ensure centralised, up-to-date information is readily available.

The Workflow Management application will then enable JL International to organise and direct collection projects, coordinate product development work, and identify in real time the risk of bottlenecks and any delays.
