Gerber Technology has named Karsten Newbury as vice president and general manager of its Software Solutions, in a move the company says strengthens its focus on providing integrated tools for the fashion industry.

Newbury joins the company from Siemens PLM Software's Mainstream Engineering business, where he led the company's global go-to-market and software development efforts. The Mainstream Engineering business was an incubator for new business models.

"Software is critical to everything we do, and is vital in assisting our customers' efforts to create and produce beautiful products and to make better decisions," said Mike Ella, president and CEO of Gerber.

"Karsten's understanding of the integrated marketplace, combined with his global vision for software systems and solutions, will enable him to draw upon all our technologies and applications and solve many of the workflow challenges our customers face."

Gerber's AccuMark CAD systems are used by over 14,000 customers around the world to create apparel, furniture and transportation interiors.
