Italian ski and sports apparel maker Colmar is planning ahead to ensure it is well-positioned for the economic rebound by investing in new product lifecycle management (PLM), sourcing and profitability management software.

“The current downturn will subside,” explains Colmar managing director Giulio Colombo.

“Investing a strategic move that will enable us to improve our underlying business processes, be more responsive to our consumers, and position us to extend our leadership in our markets.”

The 85-year-old company will use the Centric 8 system from Centric Software Inc to enable collaboration between designers and design teams, sourcing teams, and business teams for line planning and profitability planning.

The firm, which makes winter apparel, beach wear and sportswear lines using hi-tech- fabrics, also says the system will offer the “flexibility to enable us to seamlessly incorporate our unique business practices.”
