Umbro, the manufacturer of football kit and related products, has selected PTC’s FlexPLM solution to help shorten lead times and reduce development costs.

The Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution is intended to improve collaboration and increase the visibility of all product-related information across its global organisation and the supply chain.

Like many companies, Umbro faces the challenge of balancing shortened design cycles and the growing complexity of its product portfolio which includes apparel, footwear and equipment sold in over 90 countries.

It is also is positioning its product lines to benefit from the convergence between sports apparel and footwear and the leisurewear market.

FlexPLM will be used by about 100 users within the design and product development teams at the Umbro UK headquarters and an office in Hong Kong, and will be integrated with Umbro’s existing ERP system.
