Recreational and sporting goods supplier Bravo Sports has implemented product lifecycle management (PLM) software to support the increasing complexity of its global business.

The need for a PLM system was driven by the company's plans to bring a Shanghai, China, office online.

Bravo Sports also wanted additional capabilities from the software, including sourcing, landed-cost calculation, product pricing and margin analysis.

"We were looking for more than a product specification database," says Drew Brassard, CIO and senior vice president of operations at Bravo Sports, of the company's decision to invest in the Centric 8 PLM from Centric Software.

The firm managed to "implement, train and deploy the solution to its four global locations within four months," says Brassard. The four locations are Massachusetts and California in the US, as well as Italy and China.

Benefits include enhanced collaboration between global product development teams for "improved cross-functional visibility into product information and costs." The sales force is also using Centric to manage and analyse sales pricing and margins.

Headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, California, Bravo Sports' brands include Quik Shade, ShadeTech Quik Chair and Tony Hawk. It also has licenses with Nickelodeon, Mattel and Cartoon Network.
