Product lifecycle management (PLM) solution provider Centric Software has opened its first office in Japan, as part of its ongoing expansion into the Asian market.

Centric says the new office in Tokyo will help the company develop closer links with local companies by supporting them with its mobile and cloud-based tools for planning, design, development, sourcing and production.

The new Japan office is the latest in Centric's move into the Asian market, and comes just 18 months after the company set up in Shanghai. It has subsequently signed 16 customers in the region.

"It will be a great benefit to the Japanese market to have access to PLM based on worldwide industry best practices and Silicon Valley driven innovations," says Shoji Nishimura, sales director, Centric Japan. "Traditional solutions take one year or more to implement; Centric, with its agile deployment methodology, can go live in less than six months, providing significant financial benefits, faster."

Chris Groves, CEO of Centric Software, says the move builds on recent partnerships with several major Japanese brands.
