Chinese womenswear company Xue Ge (XG) has invested in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution to help to drive its digitalisation strategy.

Founded in 1997 in Wenzhou, XG is a branded ladies apparel business that designs, produces and retails womenswear for consumers aged 28-45. The company operates about 800 stores and counters in major and medium-sized Chinese cities.

"We have established systematic tools for production, logistics and finance. However, we have yet to implement a digitalised management tool for the core of our operations – the design centre," explains Xie Zhenhua, CIO of XG. "Currently, the design centre has to search for information in different systems and conduct large amounts of offline research and analysis, which takes time and makes accurate product R&D challenging.

"Externally, the advent of 5G may change how consumers shop and the business scenario for brands in the future. Fashion enterprises need digitalised tools to align the supply of products with the demand from customers."

The company is to use Centric Software's PLM solution to help "build a customer-centric digitalised product management platform that equips us with competitive opportunities for future development," adds Zhu Jing, deputy general manager of XG.

"Centric 8 PLM allows more precise R&D with a unified, consistent and standardised database of accumulated product knowledge. With Centric Apparel PLM, we can manage multiple R&D models to realise order-based production more efficiently and achieve faster turnaround, boosting turnover. Centric's costing features ensures that product development aligns with financial goals."
