Swedish outdoor clothing, footwear and hardware specialist Haglöfs has invested in a new Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution to achieve strategic and operational digital transformation goals.

Haglöfs chose Centric Software's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution help the business scale in the future.

Founded by carpenter Wiktor Haglöf in 1914, Haglöfs started out as a producer of backpacks and has expanded its production to outdoor clothing, footwear and hardware such as sleeping bags. Now owned by the Asics Corporation, distributing in Europe and Asia, it is a traditional wholesale company, which also operates its own e-commerce throughout Europe and seven owned retail stores in Sweden, two in Finland, two in Norway and one in Chamonix, France.

Haglöfs' previous PLM system had limited capabilities and only housed product-related processes related to the clothing lines. The platform was inefficient and time-consuming, as it required a lot of manual work, offered limited visibility and couldn't be easily integrated with other systems such as PIM or ERP, causing unnecessary stress on teams.

"For some time we had been discussing whether to upgrade the company's existing PLM software or adopt another solution," explains Per-Ola Axelsson, IT manager at Haglöfs, who adds the firm expects the system to innovate product development dramatically by streamlining and centralising data for all three product lines.

"Following the implementation of Centric PLM, we expect to have a much more efficient process in place that will enable design, development and buying teams to focus on delivering value. Sustainability is also a key focus for us, and with Centric PLM we are pleased to be empowered to work towards achieving our sustainability goals by tracking relevant data and improving quality control."
