The organisers of the Performance Days functional fabric fair have replaced the physical event planned for December in favour of a digital showcase.

The virtual show will run on 9-10 December under the theme ‘Nothing to Waste – Closing the Loop,’ taking a closer look at the status quo of the textile circular economy, with recommendations for action.

“We’ve done our homework,” explains fair founder and owner Marco Weichert. “We were not only one of the first organisers to launch a digital textile fair with our fair in April – but have managed to further develop and optimise the concept and functions.”

The event will see the return of the Performance Forum Jury, which will curate innovative and sustainable fabrics and ingredients, while exhibitors can present their latest collections in the Performance Days marketplace.

Support in sourcing is also provided, with visitors able to enter their interests when logging into the digital fair, enabling targeted matchmaking with corresponding suggestions for exhibitors/suppliers.

New call, chat and video chat functions will enable digital visitors to enter into dialogue with exhibitors, complementing the digital collections with technical data sheets and video presentations. This simplifies the work of designers and buyers, as well as that of suppliers and digital exhibitors, with the feature available during the two days of the trade fair and for another 14 days thereafter.

A raft of trade shows and fairs have been cancelled or postponed on the back of health and travel concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, encouraging organisers to consider virtual and other digital alternatives.

Among those that have previously held virtual events are Apparel Textile Sourcing (ATS) Trade Show and denim trade show Kingpins. Virtual events were also held earlier this month to mark the second-annual World Cotton Day.
