A new high-definition (HD) printing technology has been added to Kornit Digital’s Avalanche platform of direct-to-garment printing systems, said to offer reduced cost and better quality.
The Avalanche HD6 is equipped with Kornit’s HD print engine and NeoPigment Rapid ink, which contributes “significant” reductions in ink consumption – and therefore cost per print – compared with the company’s existing Avalanche systems.
Indeed, the HD6 will reduce ink consumption by up to 30% compared to the current “R-Series” version and up to 46% compared to the previous Non R-Series versions of the Avalanche Hexa.
Designed for the mass production of garments, Kornit’s Avalanche HD6 is robust enough for heavy duty use and operates at high speeds.
In addition, Kornit is launching an HD version of the Avalanche 1000, which will be called Avalanche HDK.
The new cost per print levels mean the new HD systems are suited to screen printers with print runs between one and 500 copies.

By GlobalDataThe new systems run with 4 litre bulk ink containers of Kornit’s NeoPigment Rapid ink, which the company says offers improved scope for spot and brand colour matching, increased opacity and saturation of the white ink, as well as improved hand feel – an important requirement for screen printers.
Suitable for printing on multiple fabric types, it also meets Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and GOTS V5 pre-approval environmental regulations.
“Today’s market trends put traditional screen printing service providers under pressure given increased demand for short run production with frequent inventory cycles, coupled with the online and direct-to-customer business models, the demand for personalised garments, and demand for shorter delivery times,” explains Omer Kulka, Kornit Digital’s vice president of marketing and product strategy.
“Added to these trends is the current retail meltdown which particularly impacts fashion and apparel outlets.”
