Swiss textile antimicrobial specialist Sanitized is using natural peppermint as the source of its latest odour-management development to treat cotton textiles sustainably and in line with growing consumer demand.

The new Sanitized Mintactiv additive is based on peppermint oil from plants farmed in plantations, and is specially refined for use in the textile industry.

It is metal-free, renewable and 100% natural, the company says, noting that another benefit is a binder-free application, “which offers outstanding effectiveness against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as a high wash resistance.”

It can also be applied in combination with other textile effects in both extraction and padding processes – and is aimed at end products such as cotton underwear, T-shirts and outerwear.

The odour-free wearing comfort is said to be able to withstand up to 50 household washes.

“This new development from Sanitized meets the requirements of conscientious textile manufacturers and their brands with sustainability goals,” the company says.
