A new resource has been set up offering a range of patterns that can be used to make personal protective equipment (PPE) from home creations to approved medical products.

An initiative of SEAMS, the National Association for the US Sewn Products Industry, the ‘Pattern Hub‘ includes face masks, medical gowns, and non-clinical face masks, with guidance including how-to videos.

It’s aim is to share the information with the rest of the industry. As well as actual patterns, there are also links to other sites offering free PPE patterns or basic information about the manufacture of PPE products.

SEAMS is also urging its members to share more patterns, specifications, and tech packs for producing PPE to broaden the hub’s offering.

As part of its efforts to rally its members during the US Covid-19 pandemic, the association has also been working to help the government, medical community, cut and sew manufacturers, and material suppliers to develop supply chains for PPE products. Like many countries the US is facing shortages of PPE due to the pandemic and constrained supply, with companies across the industry mobilising their production facilities and supply chains to help address the issue.
