Fast Retailing Group, and fabric and yarn manufacturer Century Rayon, have become the latest to commit to the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) group as signatory brand and contributor, respectively.
Owner of the Uniqlo brand, Fast Retailing is one of the world’s largest apparel retail companies. It has now become a ZDHC signatory brand.
The group also has two new value chain affiliates: Bozzetto Group from the chemical industry has become a contributor, alongside Century Rayon from the textile industry.
Established in 1952 in India, Century Rayon – under the management and operation of Grasim Industries – is part of the Aditya Birla Group of companies. It is one of the leading producers of viscose filament yarn, along with industrial chemicals such as caustic soda lye, sulphuric acid, carbon di-sulphide, chlorine and hydrogen.
UK fashion brand Ralph Lauren has also joined the ZDHC Community as a ‘friend’ of ZDHC – a company that wants to learn more about ZDHC, using the group’s tools to enhance its own sustainable chemical management journey.
“This rapid growth in our community is set to continue, as organisations from all facets of the industry join our mission to transform the industry. Together we are gaining momentum, and making a difference,” says ZDHC.
