August 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.94% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.07% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.89% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 80.38% in August 2022, a 0.36% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 8.44% in August 2022, marking a 7.05% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 4.65% in August 2022, a 95.56% rise from July 2022.

Top five apparel companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 5.92% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s apparel industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 3,030 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 7.6% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 238 jobs and a 17.36% drop. eBay with 73 IT jobs and NIKE with 65 jobs, recorded a 24.74% drop and an 8.33% rise, respectively, while Neiman Marcus Group LTD recorded a flat growth with 48 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s apparel industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 97.57% share in August 2022, a 12.95% increase over July 2022. Canada featured next with a 2.01% share, down 76.1% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.4% share, a drop of 21.05% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.46%, up by 9.74% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 32% share, registered a growth of 18.05% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 18.46% share, down 20.05% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.08%, recording a month-on-month growth of 50%.
