AUSTRALIA: Worried Textile Workers To Stage Protest
Hundreds of worried textile, clothing and footwear industry workers in Australia are expected to stage a noisy protest in Canberra next week ahead of high-level tariff talks. Concerned union chiefs fear up to 30,000 jobs will be lost if the federal government ditches its A$678 million textile, clothing and footwear assistance program and decides to freeze tariffs at 2005 levels for another five years.
