The decision was made during the ITMF Annual Conference and the International Apparel Federation (IAF) World Fashion Convention 2025, which took place on 24 October 2025 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Parés succeeds K. V. Srinivasan from India, who is now an honorary life member of the Federation after serving as vice president from 2018 to 2023 and president from 2023 to 2025.

“Assuming the presidency of the ITMF is an honour and a great responsibility. At a time of change for our industry, we must strengthen international cooperation and make a firm commitment to sustainability, innovation and responsible competitiveness,” Parés said.
Currently, Parés serves as chairman and CEO of Textil Santanderina, a Spanish company engaged in spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing of textiles.
He started his career at Textil Santanderina in 1980, serving as quality manager from 1985 to 1989 and after this had a stint as a product and marketing manager until 1993. He was appointed managing director and CEO in 1994 and became chairman in 2007.
In addition to his executive duties, Parés is a member of the board of directors at TEXFOR, a business organisation formed in 2010 through the merger of several Spanish textile employers’ associations.

ITMF’s committee of management also confirmed Mustafa Denizer of Türkiye as re-elected vice president, while Yan Yan from China joined as a new vice president of the federation.
Ernesto Maurer from Switzerland will continue as honorary treasurer of ITMF.
The conference also saw the re-election of non-executive board members. These include Salman Ispahani from Bangladesh, Yingxin Xu from China, Suchita Jain Oswal from India, Tae Jin Kang from South Korea, Anees Khawaja from Pakistan, Stefan Hutter from Singapore, and Uday Gill from Thailand.
Newly elected board members include Ernst Grimmelt of Germany and Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu of India. Rafael Cervone from Brazil, Mohammad Kassem from Egypt, Michelle Tjokrosaputro from Indonesia, Loek de Vries from the Netherlands, and Muharrem Kayhan from Türkiye were co-opted to serve on the board.
ITMF’s 30th Global Textile Industry Survey, released in February this year, indicated that garment manufacturers showed a positive change in outlook, reflected by a balance of +3 percentage points.
