Taiwan is striving to position itself as a global hub for sustainable textiles. To enhance international visibility and competitiveness, the Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) commissioned the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) to implement the Textile Export Promotion Project. The initiative highlights Taiwan’s commitment to becoming a preferred sourcing hub for sustainable and innovative textile solutions.

This year, the project brought together well-known Taiwanese designers and the selected textile manufacturers. From a fashion perspective, the overarching headline banner of “RECODE 2050”, the designers transformed cutting-edge sustainable fabrics and materials into stunning garments, seamlessly blending innovation and creativity. The results took centre stage in a fashion showcase that highlighted Taiwan’s textile strengths and enhanced their global influence under the themes of ‘Sustainable Innovation’.

Textile strength: mapping the future with major Taiwanese textile enterprises

Taking place on 15 October at TITAS 2025, leading Taiwanese textile companies, alongside designer brands (Choir, Gioia Pan, oqLiq, Spfloe, Uuuin, and Eavism), identified the ways they are transforming innovative fabrics through creativity.

“Recode 2050” emphasised that when the fashion landscape of 2050 is envisioned, it is not merely about silhouettes and styles, but a collective imagination of how textiles will participate in the future. Recode 2050 begins with the global goal of net-zero emissions, focusing on artificial intelligence, regenerative fabrics, and modular design to address the intertwined challenges of environment, technology, and aesthetics.

Together, they demonstrated how Taiwan leverages sustainable material R&D, circular economy technologies, and fashion design all highlight the international competitiveness of Taiwan’s textile industry.

Strategic initiatives used by industry leaders included hosting international buyers for sourcing meetings, developing high-potential textile traders, putting on a fashion show, and conducting global promotional campaigns.

In conjunction with other commercial benefits, this project also aims to position Taiwan as the world-leading hub for sustainable textile procurement.

Participants included Li Peng Enterprise ltd, which leads Asia with vertical integration from polymer to fabrics, and New Wide Enterprise ltd, which continues to lead the sector in specialised circular knitting.

Examples of industry progress came from professional and Olympic sportswear company Sabrina Fashion Industrial Corp, and Singtex Industrial Co Ltd for sustainable textiles worldwide, specifically its signature S.Café® coffee yarn.

Diverse innovations across the textile industry were also on display, with companies that included Asiatic Fiber Corp promoting its smart textile platform, Da Fon International Development showcasing its skin-friendly natural fabric series, and Eric Tex Fashion revealing its Sunmor® UV protection technology.

As the fashion show event continued, expansions into aerospace, protective and medical textiles were also presented, with Advance Hitech Textile International Corporation leading the way.

In addition, there was a focus was on the creation of high visibility fabrics and dual layer stretch materials, with Hitex Textile and N-Star both present to elaborate on these innovations.

Other presentation parties included WidePlus International, which has positioned itself as representing “The New Textile Industry”, with Wild Bear Technology promoting innovative coating integration, and Wu Luen Knitting showcasing specialisms in warp and circular knitting.

Where fashion meets sustainability

In the far-reaching fashion show event, contributors detailed how their projects have facilitated innovative cross-sector collaborations between leading designers and textile manufacturers across Taiwan.

Industry leaders highlighted how designers are transforming sustainable fabrics and accessories into fashion-forward garments, delivering powerful expressions of what they dubbed “Textile technology, sustainable innovation”.

This includes the type of fabrics used, but also the two-way decoding between designers and textile makers who are redefining textile value with urban aesthetics, street energy, and local craftsmanship.

Taiwan Textile Select booth

This Fashion Show event is billed as both innovative, as well as one that reveals the vision for the future of textiles and fashion in Taiwan and beyond.

A collective ‘Taiwan Textile Select’ booth featured aside the Catwalk stage. Here, featured mills and products can be explored. The booth presented sustainable innovations in sportwear, outdoor wear, and urban casual wear.

Four key companies also held product launches at the Taiwan Select Booth:

  • New Wide showcased how it can help the supply chain to acquire RS certificates through alliances
  • Wildbear Technology shared how to obtain ISCC PLUS Certificates
  • N-Star showcased its new product made by NetPlus®, which is also made from recycled fishing nets
