The company, which operates globally as a digital bank and flexible payments provider, attributes this growth to rising consumer interest in using resale as a means to earn “real money” from items they already own.
According to Klarna’s internal records collected between August 2024 and November 2025, access to the resell feature now spans 15 countries, after first launching in Sweden in 2022.

The feature allows customers to list products from their purchase history on resale platforms, including eBay, Poshmark, and Tradera. The process is facilitated by Klarna, which fills in key product details for users.
The digital banks’ data indicate that returning users account for 38% of listing activity, suggesting an ongoing trend rather than isolated use. People aged 26 to 35 form the largest portion of participants, representing 30% of all resell actions through the platform.
Products listed for resale most frequently include the Adidas Samba trainer, Nike Dunk Low, iPhones, and AirPods.
Clothing and footwear products account for 43% of listed items, followed by electronics, bags, and accessories. Four out of five resale transactions occur within budget to mid-range price categories.
Klarna’s findings highlight a shift in consumer financial behaviour, with items considered assets with residual value rather than fixed expenses. The trend mirrors research from eBay’s 2025 Recommerce Report, which shows that 81% of shoppers cite cost-saving as a key reason for purchasing pre-owned goods.
Klarna sustainability communications lead Louisa Garcia Moreno said: “Listing an item for resale through Klarna takes only a couple of minutes, and on average, our users make back an estimated $137 per sold item. That’s real money staying in people’s pockets rather than sitting idle in items they no longer use, and it adds up.”
The platform has also introduced additional features to support circular shopping habits, such as second-hand alternatives alongside new products at the point of sale.
The company incorporates sustainability ratings from Good On You, an organisation that assesses brands on over 1,000 metrics involving people, the planet, and animals. Brands with high scores are highlighted within the app, and users can filter product searches by third-party certification.
Garcia Moreno added: “More and more consumers want to make considered choices about what they buy and what they do with it when they’re done. Our job is to make that as easy as possible, resale, pre-owned alternatives, sustainability ratings, all in one place.”
Klarna compiled the data cited from platform activity across all participating countries and integrated resale platforms from February 2025 to March 2026.
