Australians can now use the platform to buy and sell a broad range of products, including fashion, electronics, homewares, and children’s goods.
The company stated that local sellers can list items with no selling fees, meaning they keep all proceeds from each sale.

Through a partnership with Australia Post, Vinted enables streamlined shipping, with sellers receiving prepaid labels for easy drop-off at postal outlets, while buyers benefit from a Buyer Protection fee that covers lost, damaged, or significantly misdescribed items.
Vinted’s launch follows rising demand for second-hand goods in Australia. According to research commissioned by the company, 91% of Australians have bought or sold second-hand at least once, and 88% say they have items at home that could be resold.
The study identifies why Australians are drawn to the second-hand market, finding that 67% of respondents are motivated by a desire to declutter, compared to 42% citing cost-of-living pressures and 31% seeking extra income.
Clothing remains a prominent focus of the second-hand trend, with three in five reporting unworn items taking up space in their homes, and nearly one in three saying they own new clothing with tags still on.
The most common reason for holding onto these pieces is “just in case,” cited by over half of those surveyed, followed by delays in sorting unwanted items and changes in weight.
Vinted’s research also found that for many Australians, shopping for second-hand goods has become a hobby, with 29% of buyers enjoying searching for unique pre-owned pieces, while 27% value the discovery of items that reflect their style.
Over half of sellers indicated they listed more items in the past year than before, suggesting interest in resale is continuing to grow.
The company now seeks to replicate its European model in Australia, positioning itself to meet the country’s expanding interest in accessible, peer-to-peer second-hand shopping.
Vinted Marketplace CEO Adam Jay said: “We’re on a mission to make second-hand the first choice. In Europe, we have already changed how people shop by making it easy, reliable and affordable to choose second-hand. We’re excited to launch in Australia and offer an easier way to buy and sell between peers. Vinted exists to give unused items a second or even third life, and there’s a wealth of incredible items sitting in Australian homes right now.
“In 2025 alone, our European members saved a collective €21.6B (± $35B) by choosing fashion on Vinted, over buying new, and buyers saved an average of 72% on fashion items compared to original prices. In Europe, 76% of Vinted buyers say Vinted made second-hand shopping a lot more accessible, and we’re excited to now bring that same experience to Australia.”
The expansion to Australia comes after Vinted finalised a secondary share transaction totalling €880m on 27 April 2027, valuing the company at €8bn ($9.3bn) in equity.
