Mango has launched its fourth capsule collection of sustainable garments under its Mango Committed line, which builds on the Spanish fashion chain’s strategy to create a business model based on sustainability criteria and more environmentally-friendly processes.

The company unveiled its first Mango Committed collection in February of last year. Garments under the line are made with forest-friendly and animal-friendly materials, such as organic and recycled cotton and Tencel, a wood fibre extracted from forests that are sustainably managed, guaranteeing its reforestation.

The fourth collection under Mango Committed is the retailer’s latest step in its sustainability efforts. Earlier this year, the company became the latest brand to join the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) as part of a new commitment to ensure 50% of the cotton it sources is of sustainable origin by 2022.

In addition, Mango is continuing with its Second Chances project to recycle clothing and footwear, allocating the collected garments to local recycling (52%), international reuse (10%), upcycling (20%) and energy recovery (18%).
